Egon Alzner, MD

Dr. Alzner graduated from the Medical University of Vienna in 1979 and completed his residency in Ophthalmology and Optometry at Salzburg University Hospital. Following his residency, Dr. Alzner completed advanced training programmes at Vienna University Hospital and in Germany. Until 2000, he served as senior consultant (Oberarzt) and assistant director at the Department of Ophthalmology and Optometry at Salzburg University Hospital.

Clinical interests include: computer perimetry (automated visual field test), squinting eye, echography and biometry, corneal topography, corneal pachymetry, fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), electrophysiological test, laser therapy of retinal diseases and after cataract, okulo plastic surgery of the eyelid, cataract surgery – small incision technique – and lens implantation, glaucoma surgery, therapy of age related macular degeneration (AMD), vitreous body surgery and posterior eye segment surgery (e.g. retinal detachment).
